June Is Adopt-a-Cat Month

June is Adopt a Cat Month

Head down to the nearest shelter and meet your newest feline friend!

Thinking about adopting? Considering adding a furry friend to your family? Think cats! June is the American Human Association’s Adopt-a-Cat Month, and they’ve got tips for making your adoption easy and worry-free, including:

1. If you’re thinking about adopting a cat, consider taking home two…
5. Budget for the short- and long-term costs of a cat… and
10. If you’re considering giving a cat as a gift, make sure the recipient is an active participant in the adoption process. (more here!)

Here are some necessities to make your new kitty’s new home a feline-friendly place to live!

This kitty hammock, aka Cat Crib, gives your cat a place to sit that’s also out of the way and not underfoot. Great for tight living spaces, too, because it doesn’t take up any extra room. Intended for chairs and end tables with a 18″-27″ width and depth, this machine washable hammock can hold up to 20 furry pounds!

Available in black (shown), brown, and purple.

Another space-saver is the PetFusion Cat Scratcher Lounge, which does double duty as a cardboard scratcher and resting area. Available in walnut brown and charcoal grey, this scratcher/lounge is even reversible, so it can take twice the wear and tear as other scratchers.

If your new kitty is the playful type, pick up one of these Cat Charmer Interactive Cat Toys, sure to create enjoyment and fun for you and your feline. (It’s a ribbon dancer for your cat!)

I got one of these for my kitty, and she loves it! Available in multiple colors and lengths.

Last but not least, the iconic Pet Bow Tie. This 100% cotton tie is reversible—polka dots on one side and sophisticated black on the other—and fits on any size collar, so you don’t have to worry about possibly choking your poor pet. If you can get your cat to wear this long enough for a picture, you’ve definitely got a more patient pet than I do!

Kitty looks happy, doesn’t it? (Not so much.)

Kitties are great pets, so consider adopting one into your family this month or next (or any time of year, actually). There are far more cats in shelters than the shelters can reasonably handle, and there’s always a need for forever homes, so choose your new furry friend today!
